French oil major TotalEnergies will develop two green hydrogen projects with industrial gases company Air Liquide , aiming to help decarbonise Total's Dutch and Belgian refineries, they said on Tuesday.

TotalEnergies SE and Air Liquide SA plan a €600 million ($628 million) joint venture to produce green hydrogen for the French oil giant’s refinery in the Netherlands, along with a supply deal for its petrochemical plant in Belgium.

TotalEnergies has joined forces with Air Liquide to develop projects for the production of around 45,000 tons of green hydrogen a year. The green hydrogen will be produced using renewable power mostly from the OranjeWind offshore wind farm, which will be developed by the two companies.

Air Liquide and TotalEnergies are investing over €1bn in two large-scale green hydrogen projects in the Netherlands, aiming to cut industrial carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 450,000 metric tonnes annually.
