Music producer Richard Perry, who was behind hits by Carly Simon, Barbra Streisand, Tiny Tim and scores of other singing stars, died Tuesday. He was 82.

Richard Perry, the record producer behind You're So Vain and other hits, worked with some of the greatest artists of his time, including Carly Simon, Rod Stewart and Ringo Starr. He was also behind a near-total reunion of the Beatles three years after the band broke up.

We lost one of the greats this week, when producer Richard Perry died at age 82. Like such contemporary producers as Jack Antonoff, Finneas, Daniel Nigro and Greg Kurstin, Perry was almost as famous as the artists he worked with (at least among pop music obsessives).
