At least two people were killed and about 20 injured when a Mexican Navy training ship on a global goodwill tour struck the underside of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York Saturday night, officials said.

The National Transportation Safety Board is sending a specialized group of investigators to New York after a Mexican ship crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge.

There were 277 people on board when the ship drifted directly into the underside of the bridge on Saturday night, the authorities said. At least 22 were injured, half of them critically.
