Ford is recalling 197,432 Ford Mustang Mach-E EVs due to the risk that a low 12-volt battery could trap passengers inside the vehicle.

Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 300,000 Mustang Mach-E electric SUVs and has instructed its dealers worldwide to cease sales of the vehicle. The automaker discovered a battery issue that could leave the driver locked out of the car, and passengers who are unable to unlock the doors may be trapped inside.

E SUVs from 2021 through 2025 model years over an issue that could trap children in the vehicle.The door locks may not open from the exterior when battery power is low, potentially leaving back-seat occupants who can't use the inside door release—particularly children—unable to get out of the vehicle.
