RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The CBS 17 Storm Team is closely monitoring the winter storm on its way to central North Carolina, impacting the region after 4 p.m. Friday through Saturday morning. Snow, ice, and sleet are all forecast and will disrupt travel by Friday night.

According to WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth, the ground is so cold that snow is sticking quickly when it falls.
