The PGA has seen a trend of big names winning in majors continue in 2025. Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau combined to win the four majors in 2024, and now Scheffler and Rory McIlroy have won this year's first two.
Scottie Scheffler has won his third career major title, taking the 2025 PGA Championship by five strokes. Scheffler began the final round with a three-stroke lead and pushed it to five before Jon Rahm made things interesting.
Griffin, like Scheffler, has won twice this year, most recently last week’s Charles Schwab Challenge. He also joined with Andrew Novak to capture the Zurich Classic of New Orleans two-man team event. The North Carolina native missed a three-foot par putt on the home hole for a 72 to slip one behind Scheffler at 209.
Last year, as the top-ranked player in the FedEx Cup standings, Scheffler opened the Tour Championship at 10 under. Scheffler went onto win his first FedEx Cup title by four shots over Colin Morikawa, who started the tournament at 4 under.

Scottie Scheffler was considered the main favorite going into the Charles Schwab Challenge. Before the tournament started, the American golfer already had two consecutive wins, and his victory at the PGA Championship especially boosted expectations for another win.
