Two men have been sentenced to four years and three months each in prison for felling a landmark sycamore tree in northern England.

The tree stood for nearly 150 years before Daniel Graham and Adam Carruthers set out on what a prosecutor called a 'moronic mission' to fell the majestic sycamore.

When the Sycamore Gap tree was illegally cut down in September 2023, TV chef and Hairy Biker Si King was among those devastated by its wanton destruction. Such was his anger, it took nearly two years and the conviction of two men before he could bring himself to visit the site again.
