While it looked like 'One of Them Days' would prevail at the holiday weekend box office, Disney's 'Mufasa: The Lion King' ended up reigning over the competition.

The “Lion King” prequel arrived to weak ticket sales last month, but moviegoers have since embraced it, pushing global box office returns toward $700 million.

Per Deadline, Mufasa: The Lion King is projected to earn $11.5 million through Sunday and $15.5 million through the four-day MLK holiday weekend. If the estimate holds it will boost Mufasa’s running domestic tally to $209.7 million since its Dec. 20, 2024, opening.

The U.K. and Ireland box office saw Disney’s “ Mufasa: The Lion King ” stay at the top in its fourth week, roaring to £2.2 million ($2.6 million) over the weekend and bringing its cumulative total to £24 million ($29.2 million), according to numbers from Comscore.
