LOS ANGELES - Voters in California will soon decide the fate of Proposition 50, a proposal to temporarily redraw California's congressional district lines in an effort to create more Democratic seats in the House — an effort Gov. Gavin Newsom says will offset a similar move in Texas designed to create more Republican seats.
Millions of Americans will soon head to the polls to cast ballots in local and statewide political races, in the first general election of President Donald Trump’s second term in the White House.
California’s special election will be held Tuesday, though mail-in voting has been available for weeks. Polls close at 8 p.m. PT, or 11 p.m. ET. The AP will provide vote results and declare the winner in the redistricting ballot measure. Any voter registered in California may participate in the special election.
