James van Riemsdyk sees a great fit for him with Detroit Red Wings — and finally being NHL teammates with fellow '07 draftee Patrick Kane.

Van Riemsdyk has multiple ties with the Red Wings. He was skating with Justin Holl Tuesday in Minnesota when he accepted their offer. He also knows Dylan Larkin, Alex DeBrincat and some others.

The Detroit Red Wings signed James van Riemsdyk, a well-traveled forward who has logged more than 1,000 NHL games.
