The National Guard has at times detained protesters in its deployment to Los Angeles, an official said Wednesday, as demonstrations against Immigration and Customs enforcement raids spread to other major cities.
Gavin Newsom (D) on Tuesday accused President Donald Trump of a “brazen abuse of power” for mobilizing National Guard troops and Marines to Los Angeles and warned that the United States was facing a “perilous moment” under a president “who wants to be bound by no law or constitution.
President Trump has long mused about sending the military to crush protests in blue-state cities. He is now using troops in Los Angeles.
