Eight lottery players in New Jersey won $10,000 or more last week playing Powerball and New Jersey Lottery games.
The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are more than 292 million to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance of matching five numbers (but not the Powerball) and winning a second prize of at least $1 million.
The winning ticket, sold at 7-Eleven #11430 at 921 Mountain Avenue in Mountainside, matched the numbers 10, 31, 49, 51 and 68. The only number missing was the red Power Ball, which came up as 19. The Power Play multiplier was 2x, but the ticket was not eligible for the multiplier.
A Powerball ticket worth $100,000 was sold in New Jersey for Saturday’s lottery drawing to a player who made the purchase using the Jackpocket app. The third-prize ticket matched four numbers plus the Powerball and was sold with the Megaplier for an extra $1, doubling the standard $50,000 prize.
