A few locations on Long Island and parts of southeastern Connecticut could see totals approaching 3 inches.
Winter Weather Advisory until 1am Sunday for No. Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming counties . A trace to 2" inches of snow with blowing snow expected that could significantly reduce visibility. Extreme Cold Warning through 10am Sunday for Southern Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus Counties. Wind chills down to -25 degrees.
What comes next is the "Arctic Express." This is where the cold air is suddenly made to feel even worse, due the high winds that will be coming into town overnight.
Friday will be cooler with highs in the mid 60s. But this weekend, highs will warm back into the low 70s. We are also expecting a lot of sunshine.
Up to 50 mph winds are possible on Saturday with the coldest wind chills of the year in the forecast for Saturday night.
After a wild couple of weeks in the weather world we have really settled down for the first full weekend of February, and with Mardi Gras around the corner it's right on time. Thursday will be another chilly day with highs in the 50s and a slight breeze coming out of the north around 5-10 mph.
