Tea, a dating safety app which allows women to anonymously give men red or green "flags," says it had more than 70,000 photos stolen in a data breach.

A dating safety app that allows women to do background checks on men and anonymously share "red flag" behaviour has been hacked, exposing thousands of members' images, posts and comments. Tea Dating Advice, a US-based women-only app with 1.6 million users, said there had been "unauthorised access" to 72,000 images submitted by women.

A spokesperson for Tea confirmed the hack to ABC News Friday afternoon, noting it involved a database that stored around 13,000 images of selfies and photo identification submitted as users sought to verify their accounts, as well as nearly 60,000 images viewable for all app users.
