Severe storms moving into the Chicago area are bringing dangerous flash flood threats on Friday afternoon. There is a flash flood warning in effect for Cook and DuPage counties until 2:45 p.m. A ground stop has been issued at O'Hare and Midway airports as storms move into the area.

CHICAGO - A Flash Flood Warning was issued for some of Chicago's southern suburbs Friday afternoon amid storms. The warning is in effect parts of Cook and DuPage County, including suburbs such as Darien, Bridgeview and Justice until 2:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for southern Muscatine County, northwestern Louisa County at 4 p.m. Friday.

They cited a Houston Chronicle investigation that found UGRA declined to fund the improvements despite having millions of dollars in reserves.

The Upper Guadalupe River Authority tapped its $3.4 million surplus to lower property tax rates, rather than fund $1 million in flood warning upgrades.
