Four people died when a medical transport plane crashed and burst into flames shortly after take off at a London airport, including a woman who is understood to have been on her first day as a flight nurse.

Aerial pictures showed the aftermath of a plane crash at London Southend Airport. Essex Police said it was alerted to a 12m (39ft) plane on fire at the site shortly before 16:00 BST on Sunday. Footage taken from a helicopter showed a large area of charred ground and the remains of the aircraft.
