More than a dozen tornado warnings were issued by National Weather Service offices serving Alabama, and several involved confirmed tornadoes. A possible tornado struck the Pickens County town of Gordo Saturday afternoon, causing damage to homes and structures and downed trees.

WVTM 13 meteorologists are tracking a severe weather outbreak in Alabama Saturday with the chance of tornadoes, hail, damaging winds and tornadoes.

Over the past 24 hours, more than 40 reported tornadoes have swept across eight states in the Midwest and South -- and the dangerous severe weather threat continues. The eight states with reported tornadoes in the past day are Alabama, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Illinois, Indiana and Tennessee.
