Impossible – The Final Reckoning posted the biggest opening for a US film in the country this year, defying trade and geopolitical tensions between Washington and Beijing.

Tom Cruise and Jason Statham, whose movies have grossed multiple billions of dollars worldwide, have been locked in a box office battle for a decade.

“Lilo & Stitch” brought in an impressive $183 million at the box office this weekend, while the eighth “Mission: Impossible” film earned a franchise-best $77 million opening. Altogether, Memorial Day 2025’s 4-day total cracked $328 million at the movies.
