Ottavino agreed Tuesday with the Red Sox on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to spring training, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Ottavino pitched for the Red Sox in 2021 prior to spending the last three seasons with the Mets.

The Red Sox are bringing back veteran reliever Adam Ottavino on a minor-league contract, as was first reported by The New York Post’s Jon Heyman. The deal comes with an invitation to major-league spring training.

Ottavino, 39, made his MLB debut as a starter for the Cardinals in 2010. However, the Rockies converted him to a relief role after claiming him on waivers in 2012, and the right-hander has been one of the most prolific relievers in the game ever since.
