But with one minute, 38 seconds remaining in the second quarter, McCarthy hit Jefferson for a loss of a yard, marking the former LSU Tigers wide receiver's fourth catch of the game and 540th of his career.

The jury remained very much out on McCarthy prior to his Week 2 ankle injury. Sunday was a big step in the right direction for the second-year Vikings quarterback.
