A bill has been introduced in the Alabama House of Representatives that would require the display of the Ten Commandments in public schools across the state. Under HB178, all local boards of education and public colleges must display the commandments and a context statement.

Debate is heating up in the Montana Legislature over a bill that would require putting the Ten Commandments in every classroom in the state.

If you post the Ten Commandments in a classroom, students will read the rule against committing adultery, and Sen. Cora Neumann had a question about that situation. The Montana Legislature already has told schools to notify parents about anything related to sex — even teaching Romeo and Juliet — so parents can have their children “opt out”

First-term Republican Sen. John Carley of Piedmont brought Senate Bill 51, which is similar to legislation that’s popped up in North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. Louisiana in particular has a new law requiring schools to post the Ten Commandments, but that’s been stopped by a lower court.
