Black bear sightings have been reported in multiple locations in the Kansas City metro, according to authorities. A Grandview Police officer -- on his way to work just before 6 a.m. Tuesday -- spotted a black bear near a Taco Bell at West Outer Road and Main Street in Grandview, according to a statement from the city.

Black bear sightings on May 12-13 have been confirmed in Johnson County, Kansas, and Jackson County, Missouri.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is proposing a black bear hunt in December to address, what it says, is a fast-growing bear population.
