Jay Slater, 19, who went missing in Tenerife last summer sparking a huge search, died by accident after falling from a height of around 20 to 25 metres, a coroner has concluded.

Jay Slater did not steal a £12,000 Rolex in the hours before his disappearance, a key witness has insisted. Convicted drug dealer Ayub Qassim, who was one of the last people to see the 19-year-old alive before he disappeared in Tenerife last year, told an inquest the claims were “100 per cent ” inaccurate.

The 19-year-old died from head injuries in the fall down a ravine as he tried to walk back to his holiday apartment, his inquest has concluded.
