Rory McIlroy came within a whisker of his second Genesis Scottish Open title, but ultimately finished two strokes behind a surprising winner.
Chris Gotterup, an unheralded pro in his second PGA Tour season, topped world No. 2 Rory McIlroy to win the Scottish Open.
Rory McIlroy couldn’t hide his disdain for the conditions at the Scottish Open. “The greens are so s–t,” McIlroy said Sunday on a hot mic as he missed a putt wide during his final round at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland.
The duo was tied entering the back nine, but McIlroy failed to convert a birdie putt as Gotterup finished with three birdies and a bogey.
