Charlie McAvoy will miss his third consecutive game with an undisclosed injury when the Bruins host the San Jose Sharks on Monday (1 p.m. ET; NBCSCA, NESN).

BOSTON — Bruins interim coach Joe Sacco had plenty to sort out when he met with the media after morning skate ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Lightning at TD Garden. Two players were called up, two were placed on injured reserve and a third was moved from injured reserve to long-term injured reserve. Sacco explained:

McAvoy has five goals and 15 assists, adding up to 20 points in 45 games and a +2. McAvoy has never been too impressive on the points side but is one of the best defensive defenseman you could ask for, which sucks because that leaves a hole in Boston's defensive end.
