Aircraft maker Airbus is facing a delivery setback of its flagship model, A320, following an emergency software upgrade warning for the popular aircraft to airlines.

Aircraft maker Airbus said Wednesday it had lowered its 2025 target for deliveries because of fuselage panel quality issues at its flagship model, the A320.

The world’s largest planemaker is placing delays as its engineering teams expand inspections of A320 fuselage panels after detecting defects across broader sets of jets than initially expected.

The good news here is that only 168 of the planes are currently in service, while the rest are at various stages of production. The bad news is that this is a more complicated fix, involving inspections and, if defective panels are found, time-consuming replacement.

Airbus on Wednesday lowered its commercial aircraft delivery target to around 790 aircraft for 2025 due to a supplier quality issue on fuselage panels impacting its A320 line.
