SYDNEY (Reuters) -Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Thursday that he had discussed the crisis in Gaza with his UK counterpart, Keir Starmer, and reiterated his government's strong support for a two-state solution for Israel and the Palestinians.

Families of Israeli hostages held in Gaza and a former captive have condemned the U.K. government’s announcement that it will recognize a Palestinian state this September unless Israel meets specific conditions, calling the move a dangerous concession to terrorism.

It came after Prime Minister Mark Carney discussed the situation in Gaza with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who announced a similar move.
