MILAN (AP) — Belgian designer Glenn Martens was named creative director of the Paris fashion house Maison Margiela, taking over the position from John Galliano, the brand’s Italian owner OTB announced on Wednesday.

The 41-year-old Belgian designer will reportedly continue designing at Diesel while crafting couture collections at the Paris-based label.

Martens, 41, is currently creative director at Diesel and was promoted internally from within the Italian fashion company OTB Group, which also owns Maison Margiela

Martens, currently creative director of Diesel, will replace John Galliano at Margiela, amid a creative reshuffle at both brands’ parent company OTB Group.

Glenn Martens, known for his reconstructed denim and avant-garde silhouettes, is the new creative director of Maison Margiela.

The current Diesel designer officially becomes only the third person to serve as creative director of the haute couture fashion house.
