In the midst of what’s already been an outstanding month for the Toronto Blue Jays, the ball club has officially climbed its way atop the American League standings.

With the victory, the Blue Jays are 61-42 overall, which put them percentage points ahead of the Houston Astros in the American League. Toronto also has the second-best record in baseball behind the Milwaukee Brewers, who are percentage points ahead of the Blue Jays.

With the win, the Jays improved their record to 61-42, which now just happens to be the best in the American League following Houston’s loss to the visiting Athletics on Thursday. The 61 wins are tied with the Milwaukee Brewers for the most in the majors and they padded their lead atop the East Division to 4.5 games over the idle New York Yankees.
