Two people arrested on suspicion of planning an attack at a Lady Gaga concert in Rio de Janeiro were targeting LGBTQ+ people, police said on Sunday.

The two suspects reportedly posed as Lady Gaga fans online in an attempt to recruit others, including teenagers, to carry out attacks using improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails at the concert. Their goal, police said, was to gain notoriety on social media.

Brazilian police said they had prevented a bomb attack during Saturday night's free Lady Gaga concert on Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro targeting children and the LGBTQ community.
