The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Monday it will hire for “mission-critical field positions” amid expert warnings that the National Weather Service has been cut too sharply just as hurricane season arrives.

The drive come after a slate of terminations mandated by the Department of Government Efficiency earlier this year.

Denverites enjoyed one of the warmest springs the metro has logged in more than a decade, largely because of warm temperatures and minimal snow in March, according to the National Weather Service.
