The pilot of a small plane died in a crash on July 12 in the Pawnee National Grasslands, according to a preliminary investigation report released by the NTSB.

A plane identified as Murphy SR3500 Moose crashed on July 15, at the Olympic National Park in Washington, killing one out of the three occupants.
