Homeless people are living inside more than 1,000 vehicles scattered around San Jose, new city data shows. On Thursday, the mayor said tow trucks will begin hauling lived-in vehicles away from heavily impacted neighborhoods.

The City of San Jose is trying to find new solutions to its long-running overnight RV parking problems. As part of the process, the city will begin cracking down on 30 sites that have been popular with RV dwellers and are near schools, parks, and neighborhoods.

San Jose residents said parked RVs people live in have packed certain streets, and now, a new program aims to remove the RVs by creating temporary tow-away zones.

Long lines of RVs dotting San Jose streets could be gone soon. The City of San Jose has selected 30 locations where it will tell people living in RVs to either move, accept shelter, or be towed away.
