Prosecutors in opening statements called Combs a cultural icon to the public – but alleged he 'committed crime after crime' in private.

The 55-year-old hip-hop mogul has been charged by federal prosecutors with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Sean "Diddy" Combs, the music mogul accused of sexually assaulting, trafficking and otherwise exploiting women in recurring incidents over multiple decades, is standing trial on federal charges in New York City. Jury selection began May 5, and opening statements are expected on Monday, May 12.
