During initial examination, staff noticed both wings were drooping and the egret was using its wings to balance as its legs were weak. After being admitted to our animal hospital, this Great Egret (23-5579) was found unable to move and gasping for air. An intake exam revealed an absent blink and paralysis located in the legs, common symptoms of avian botulism.
