In honor of Hip Hop turning 50 this year, and June being Black Music Month, The Root was front and center at this year’s #GovernorsBall music festival in Queens, NY. The 3-day event prominently featured some of rap’s most talented performers, including #KendrickLamar, #LilBaby, #PushaT , #IceSpice ,and #JoeyBadass. Pop princess #Lizzo headlined night one putting on a show-stopping performance. #LilNasX took over the stage and left no crumbs. And of course #AriLennox and #Giveon sang to our souls
