Information as received: Please ensure the Vaal Barrage is on free flow because the current outflows from Vaal Dam going to the Barrage are too high to safely store or regulate water. By opening only a few gates, it causes a backwater effect thus causing ponding upstream and may place pressure on the structure itself. On free flow, the river can pass through
