The dancing plant.... Codariocalyx motorius ! Thanks to our student Sonya for taking this video ( slight time lapse). Only two other plants are known to do rapid movement.. the Venus fly trap and the sensitive plant (Mimosa pudica) so of course we needed this for the @ucdavisbotanicalconservatory . Most likely the small leaflets move to track the sun or ward off predators. Thanks @flori.culture.orchid.supplies for supplying this. The plant is tropical and needs greenhouse conditions. #dancingpla
