­The summer season has flown by faster than seems possible, but we’ve arrived at the final week and weekend to enjoy our current exhibition, “Tools as Art: Work and Play.” Be sure to stop by our Bendel Mansion Museum Galleries to see this incredible body of work before the exhibition closes on September 8th. Through an intricate grid of color and texture, Gwyned Trefethen’s “In the Beginning” reimagines the Pillars of Creation — a star-forming region within the Eagle Nebula. Like the nebula itself, the quilt radiates both structure and mystery, evoking the very birthplaces of stars. See it now in our “Fierce Planets” exhibition, where textile art and the cosmos unite in a celebration of pattern, form and wonder. Produced by Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. and Johns Hopkins University Wavelengths.
