Here’s what it looked like at Norfork Dam today. Each gate is open a half of a foot. The total spillway and hydropower release is just above 10,000 cubic feet per second. This is a non-damaging release. The peak rainfall runoff from Tropical Storm Cristobal poured into the reservoir around 32,000 c.f.s. We are increasing water releases from Norfork Dam to reduce the amount of flood storage in the reservoir. The combined spillway and hydropower releases are approximately 6,900 cubic feet per second and will last through the weekend.
